NORFOLK – The Nebraska State Patrol says a crash in northeastern Nebraska has killed two people, including a four-year old boy.
The patrol says the crash happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highways 81 and 13 just north of Norfolk. It happened when a sport utility vehicle turning west onto Highway 13 was hit by a southbound semitrailer.
Investigators say the driver of the SUV – identified as 36-year old Rebecca Fischer of Plainview – was pronounced dead at the scene. Three small children were also in the SUV. Two of them – five-year old Scarlett Fischer and four-year old Lium Fischer – were taken to a Norfolk hospital. The third – two-year old Lara Fischer – was flown to an Omaha hospital.
The patrol says Lium died at the hospital. The other two children are expected to survive.
The driver of the semi – identified as 26-year old Tanner Albus of Decatur – suffered minor injuries.
