SYRACUSE – The family of Frederick Wellensiek was at the Otoe County Fair for the 100-year Pioneer Farm award.
The original owner, Frederick Wellensiek, acquired 200 acres near Cook in 1907.
He grew corn, wheat and oats and raised cattle, hogs, chickens and horses.
Frederick and Mary’s son Ernest and wife Lena took over the family farm in 1974.
In 2012 the son of Ernest and Lena Raymond and his wife Amelia began farming.
Today the grandson of Raymond and Amelia, Brett and his wife Melissa along with their 4 children reside on the family farm .
