BEATRICE – West Court Street in Beatrice will be closed at eight a.m., today, because of floodwaters on the Big Blue River.
Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang says officers will be directing traffic on one-lane through that area, for a couple of hours prior to the closing, in order to get early morning commuter traffic through.
Chief Lang says the closing could last for a long time.
:06 “through the weekend”
Motorists will have to use the bypass south of Beatrice, known as Locust Road.
:27 “very fortunate”
Traffic will not be able to use Belvedere Street in southwest Beatrice, because that gravel road’s condition makes it impassable.
:09 “most current, information”
Motorists also cannot use West Hickory Road to the northwest of Beatrice, since that is closed at the bridge by Big Blue River flooding.
Beatrice Public Schools have cancelled school, for Friday.
