Winter Conditions Blamed For Highway Accident

Cass County Sheriff Wm. C. Brueggemann reports a highway accident blamed on winter driving conditions.

At 7:55 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded along with Weeping Water Fire and Rescue, Manley Fire, and Cass County Emergency Management Paramedics to a one-vehicle injury accident on Highway 50 just south of McKelvie Rd.

A beige 2004 GMC Sierra was northbound and went out of control when the driver hit a patch of ice and overcorrected into the southbound lane.

The vehicle rolled three times into an embankment.  Grant Hallstrom, age 18, of was checked by Cass County Paramedics. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured. Hallstrom was taken to Community Memorial hospital in Syracuse, Nebraska in a private vehicle.
