A Lincoln woman charged with first-degree sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy told a Cass County sheriff’s deputy that the two shared a marijuana joint before going into the bedroom of a Plattsmouth home.
Janelle L. Carlson, 39, surrendered to authorities on Oct. 10 after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She posted bail in the amount of 10 percent of $25,000.
If convicted, Carlson faces 20 years to life in prison.
According to an affidavit filed in Cass County Court, Carlson told an investigator that she had sex with the boy at his insistence after the two went into the backyard of a house where they both lived and “smoked a whole blunt.” Carlson said she and boy then went to his bedroom to watch a movie when the youth initiated sex in October or November of 2016.
“I don’t even know why I even pulled my pants down,” she told the deputy in a video interview. “I should never have done it.”
In a separate interview, the boy told the deputy that after smoking the joint, Carlson began groping him when they went to his bedroom. He said Carlson performed oral sex on him and the two also had intercourse.
