LAFAYETTE, MO – A two-run home run from Thayer Armbruster in the top of the seventh inning was the cherry on top of Falls City’s comeback win over St. Joe Lafayette, MO Tuesday, 14-12.
The Tigers softball team was boosted by Armbruster’s 4-5 performance. She finished with two home runs and a pair of singles. Her single in the sixth inning scored two runs to tie the game at 12.
Lafayette captured the lead in the second inning, scoring seven runs. Falls City answered with three runs in the fourth, including a two-run single from Josey Hollens. Lafayette added to the scoreboard with a two-run home run in the bottom half of the fourth inning.
Trailing 12-9 in the sixth, Armbruster hit an RBI single and Hollens smacked a home run, both were part of a three-run inning.
The Tigers finished with four home runs on the day and had 19 total hits. Hannah Clary hit her lone home run in the fifth inning.
Falls City is now 2-19 and will host Syracuse on Thursday.
