Auburn Earns Sixth Seed at State Softball, Open with #3 Bishop Neumann

UPDATE: There will be a Community Send-Off for the Auburn softball team on Tuesday evening. They will be leaving the High School parking lot at approximately 6 p.m. and heading east on Hwy. 136 then north on Hwy 75.  Help line the streets beginning at about 5:45 to give the Bulldogs a great send-off!

HASTINGS, Neb. – The Auburn softball team will be the #6-seed in this week’s Nebraska School Activities Association State Softball Tournament.

The Bulldogs (24-8) open with #3 Bishop Neumann (22-8) at 9 a.m. Wednesday. If they win, they will play a second game Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against either #2 Fairbury or #7 FC/E-M. They would drop to a consolation game against Fairbury or FC/E-M, if they lose to the Cavaliers. The consolation game would be played at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Auburn qualified for their second-straight state tournament with an 8-5 win over 2015 state champion Conestoga in the Class C1-1 district championship on Saturday.

The double elimination tournament begins Wednesday and runs through Friday at the Bill Smith Softball Complex in Hastings. Live coverage of Auburn softball at the state tournament will be carried on B103 (103.1 FM,, and the B103 app).

Auburn Public Schools officials announced Sunday there will be no school Wednesday and Thursday so students, staff and fans can cheer on the state softball team in Hastings. A decision on school for Friday will be made Thursday evening.
