Auburn Gets Back on Winning Track with Sweep of Falls City Triangular

FALLS CITY, Neb. – After dropping their previous two matches, the Auburn Volleyball team got back on the winning track with a sweep of Falls City and Nebraska City Thursday.

The Bulldogs hadn’t won a set since their Aug. 31 win over Fairbury, 3-0, and dropped matches to Class D1 #1 Johnson-Brock and Class C1 #1 Lincoln Lutheran.

Auburn improved their record to 4-2 with wins over Falls City, 25-11, 25-9 (2-0), and Nebraska City, 25-13, 25-8 (2-0), during the Falls City Triangular at Falls City High School.

“Our play from our front row was impressive and we took care of a lot of scrappy balls that were tight on the net,” Auburn Head Coach Lexie Baack says. “Even though we missed more serves than I would have liked, we had several aces which lets us know our girls are serving tough.”

The Bulldogs had a combined 27 aces in their two wins Thursday. Ashley Teten led the way vs. the Tigers with four, while Sydnie Reeves added four against the Pioneers.

Reeves led the team with 11 kills in their win over the Tigers. Theresa Frary finished with 5 kills in the victory over the Pioneers.

Nebraska City finished 1-1 at the triangular, defeating Falls City, 25-11, 20-25, 26-24 (2-1).

Auburn and Falls City (1-7) will both compete in the Fairbury Invite on Saturday. Nebraska City (2-7) will host Waverly on Tuesday.
