Auburn scores two in the eighth inning to win first game of season

PLATTSMOUTH – Plattsmouth pitcher Aaronn Aho induced a fielder’s choice groundout from Auburn’s Josh Lambert that gave the Bulldogs the lead in the eighth inning. Auburn would add another run and go onto win their first game of the season, 4-2, Wednesday at Plattsmouth High School.

The Blue Devils forced extra innings by tying the game at two in the bottom of the seventh inning on a John Montes fielder’s choice.

Trevor Dickerson was credited for the win after he pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing no runs on no hits and striking out three. Kyson Warner started the game. He went 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on two hits, while striking out seven.

Jack Glup got the start for Plattsmouth (0-3). He allowed four runs on two hits and six strikeouts in seven innings.

Brody Darnell finished 2-3 at the plate and scored two runs for Auburn (1-1).

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play at Platte Valley on Friday, while the Blue Devils will host Central City. Rain is in the forecast all day across the region Friday.
