Bubba Starling and Nicky Lopez paced a 17-hit attack with three singles each as the Storm Chasers outslugged New Orleans 11-10 Sunday in the third game of their PCL series at Werner Park.
Humberto Arteaga drove in three runs, including two during a five-run second inning, as Omaha overcame an early 4-2 deficit to back Scott Blewett (2-0) in his second Triple-A appearance.
Kansas City’s second-round draft pick in 2014 allowed five runs in the first three innings, giving up home runs to Isaac Galloway and Matt Snyder, but settled down to get the victory.
Second-round pick Josh Staumont (2015) and first-rounder Kyle Zimmer (2012) also pitched for Omaha. Staumont tossed two scoreless innings but Zimmer was tagged for five runs in the New Orleans eighth.
The Chasers were up 11-6 when former Nebraska football and baseball recruit Monte Harrison launched an opposite-field grand slam off Zimmer in the eighth to pull the Baby Cakes within a run. Harrison, one of Miami’s top prospects, is in his first week in Triple-A and tallied his second consecutive two-hit game.
Tim Hill pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for the Chasers to pick up a save.
Omaha chased starter Joe Gunkel (0-1) in two innings, scoring seven runs off him. Frank Schwindel, Cheslor Cuthbert and Erick Mejia each drove in two runs as the top half of the order brought home nine.
Jorge Bonifacio reached on an infield single in the Chasers eighth to snap a 0-for-32 start to the year.
