Class B: Nebraska City Faces Elimination Monday vs. Alliance

ALLIANCE, Neb. – Starting pitcher Nathaniel Gorczyca threw a five-inning no-hitter and Omaha Roncalli advanced to the Class B Senior Legion State Baseball Tournament Quarterfinals with an 11-0 win over Nebraska City Sunday afternoon.

Gorczyca finished with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Roncalli captured the lead in the first inning on a Thomas Alitz RBI single and an RBI double from Noah Rheinheimer. They scored four more runs in the second inning. The big inning came thanks to a two-run triple by Alex Rodgers, and a double by Logan McGill. McGill finished 2-for-4 at the plate.

Andrew Harrah took the loss for Nebraska City. He threw one inning, surrender ed seven runs on five hits. The Post 8 Seniors finished with five total errors.

Omaha Roncalli will play the winner of Wahoo and Gering Monday night at 7 p.m.

Alliance Eliminates O’Neill

Alliance captured an early lead in the first inning and O’Neill couldn’t recover in a 14-1 loss Sunday.

The Spartan’s biggest inning came in the sixth when they scored seven runs. They scored on a walk by Nathan Lauder, a single by Patrick Knapp, an error , a single by Corbin Stark and a single by Trevor DuBray.

Alliance starting pitcher Derek Morrison earned the win, going four innings, allowing zero runs on five hits.

Joshua Cuddy took the loss for O’Neill. He pitched four innings, gave up five runs on eight hits, and he finished with three strikeouts.

Alliance (20-18) will play Nebraska City (25-6) in an elimination game Monday at 1 p.m. The game will be carried live on B103 (103.1 FM, and the B103 app).
