Class B: Omaha Roncalli Hangs On to Beat McCook in First Round

ALLIANCE, Neb. – Omaha Roncalli jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 4-3 victory over McCook in the first round of the Class B Senior Legion State Baseball Tournament at Bower-Shankland Field in Alliance.

Omaha Roncalli took the lead in the second inning on an Andrew Gurnon RBI single. Thomas Altitz also had an RBI in the game.

Creighton Silvain was the winning pitcher. He went six and a third innings, allowed three runs on four hits and struck out four. Alex Stevens recorded the last two outs to earn the save.

Kaden Sitzman took the loss for McCook. He threw six innings, surrendering four runs, seven hitsand striking out six.

Roncalli advances to the second round and will play Nebraska City at 4 p.m. mountain time, 5 p.m. central time. The game will be carried on B103 in Nebraska City (103.1 FM, B103.fm and the B103 app).

McCook plays Blair in an elimination game on Sunday at 10 a.m.
