Creighton baseball sweeps Arkansas-Little Rock in season-opening series

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Creighton rallied from four runs down to complete a season-opening series sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday.

The Bluejays trailed 10-6 after seven before scoring three in the eighth and one in the ninth. They added two in the 11th for a 12-10 win. Creighton scored in double digits every game of the series, averaging 11.7 runs per game.

That offense produced in the clutch Sunday. In the eighth inning, Creighton scored runs on a groundout, sacrifice fly and an Isaac Collins two-out single to close to 10-9. Will Robertson led off the ninth with a home run to tie it.

The Jays escaped a bases-loaded, no-out situation in the bottom of the 10th before scoring twice in the 11th. Robertson broke the tie with an RBI double. Jake Holton added a solo homer.

Robertson led CU with three hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Creighton next plays four games in a tournament in Lake Charles, Louisiana, beginning Friday.
