Creighton joins Las Vegas Invitational field that includes reigning national runners-up

Creighton will play in the Las Vegas Invitational next season, part of a four-team field that includes Iowa, San Diego State and Texas Tech.

The tournament will take place Nov. 28-29 at Orleans Arena. Pairings will be announced at a later date, and Fox Sports 1 will broadcast every game.

This is the 19th annual Las Vegas Invitational. Michigan State won the event last year before going on to the Final Four of the NCAA tournament.

Creighton will look to duplicate the success it had in the early-season tournament it played in in 2018. The Jays participated in the Cayman Islands Classic and returned as champions.

The field in Las Vegas should be a step up in competition, though.

Texas Tech was the national runner-up last season. The Red Raiders have reached the NCAA tournament in three of the last four years and also advanced to the Elite Eight in 2018.

Iowa won 23 games last season and won its first-round NCAA tournament game against No. 7 seed Cincinnati. San Diego State also won more than 20 games but lost in the Mountain West tournament championship game.
