Creighton pushed itself back into the AP Top 25 with a pair of Big East basketball wins last week.

The Bluejays were No. 25 in the Associated Press poll released Monday. Creighton improved to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in the Big East by beating St. John’s 78-71 at home Wednesday before a 90-66 win at Georgetown on Saturday.

Creighton joined No. 22 Auburn as newcomers to this week’s poll. The Bluejays had been No. 25 in the Dec. 25 rankings before a loss at Seton Hall, but are now 8-1 since a Dec. 1 loss at Gonzaga.

Villanova of the Big East took over at No. 1 on Monday after Michigan State lost at Ohio State and dropped to No. 4. West Virginia is No. 2 and Virginia is No. 3.

Creighton plays host to Butler on Tuesday night — trying to protect a 10-0 home record — before traveling to No. 10 Xavier on Saturday.
