OKLAHOMA CITY — A four-run fifth inning carried Oklahoma City to a 5-3 Pacific Coast League win over Omaha on Thursday night.
The Storm Chasers led 2-0 after solo home runs by Cheslor Cuthbert and Bubba Starling before the Dodgers put together their four-run fifth.
The big blow was a three-run shot by Zach Reks off reliever Zach Lovvorn, who was tagged with the loss.
The Chasers cut their deficit to 4-3 on Jecksson Flores’ RBI single in the sixth and had another scoring chance in the seventh.
Humberto Arteaga led off that inning with a double, and Omaha had runners at second and third with two outs before Starling struck out to end the threat.
While Oklahoma City tacked on another run on Edwin Rios’ home run in the bottom of the seventh, the Chasers were retired in order in the last two innings.
Starling scored twice and had two hits, raising his average to .348. Over his last 11 games, Starling is 16 of 43 with eight RBIs.
Cuthbert’s home run was his third in five games.
Omaha, which had a four-game winning streak snapped, continues its series with Oklahoma City at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
