Memphis, Tenn. — Elier Hernandez had six RBIs during Omaha’s 12-run second inning to lead the Storm Chasers to a 14-3 win over Memphis.
Hernandez kicked off the scoring run with a two-run single and added a grand slam later in the inning. His six RBIs were one away from matching the Pacific Coast League record for RBIs in a single inning.
Kelvin Gutierrez, Jorge Bonifacio, Bubba Starling and Brett Phillips each drew a bases-loaded walk in the second, and Nick Dini capped the frame with a solo home run.
The 12 runs are the most Omaha has scored in an inning since 1999, when it scored 12 in a 13-11 win over Colorado Springs.
Hernandez finished 4 for 5 at the plate and scored two runs.
The Storm Chasers will host Oklahoma City at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday in their home opener.
