Falls City and Syracuse Runners Compete in Beatrice

BEATRICE, Neb. – The Falls City cross country teams finished with six total runners in the top 15 at the Beatrice Invitational Thursday.

Mazey McCullough led the Tiger girls’ team with a sixth place medal. Freshman Brenna Leyden earned her first medal after finishing ninth.

“The two girls have been working hard in practice and will continue to improve,” Falls City Head Coach Cody Hawley said. “We’re excited to have a scoring team in the future when we get everyone healed up.”

The boys’ team was led by Braden Kobza’s fourth place finish. Other top-15 finishers include: Mason Crawford (9th), Zach Beaver (11th) and Jared Hawley (15th). The Tigers finished third as a team, behind champion Beatrice and runner-up Waverly.

“We are excited to see how the competition for the varsity positions will change from week to week,” according to Hawley. “This team has the potential to be very solid.  They are all very driven and have some big goals to achieve for this season.”

Falls City travels to Fairbury for their next meet on Sept. 7th.
