HIAWATHA, Kan. – The Falls City cross country teams brought home six total medals and the boys team finished third at the Hiawatha Invitational Thursday.
The girls team had two medal winners on the day, Mazey McCullough finished 8th with a time of 23:03, and Brenna Leyden finished in a time of 24:21, for 15th place.
Braden Kobza led the Tigers’ boys team with a 7th place medal. He battled well despite having a bad cold and finished in a time of 19:14. Mason Crawford edged teammate Zach Beaver by one second (19:37 and 19:38) to claim 12th and 13th places. Jared Hawley earned his first medal of the year in the 21st spot with a time of 20:36.
All of the boys ran a much better race despite the hot, windy conditions,” Falls City Head Coach Cody Hawley says. “We were very happy with the results.”
The Tigers finished behind Savannah and Hiawatha in the team standings.
Falls City travels to Nebraska City on September 21st.
