Senior Jared Nemec earned the win on the mound. He pitched four innings, giving up one run, four hits, striking out three and allowing no walks.

PLATTSMOUTH, NE – Nebraska City junior Jace Becker went 2-2 at the plate and drove in four runs on two singles in the Pioneers’ win over Plattsmouth, 13-1, Thursday at Plattsmouth High School.

Becker’s bases loaded single in the third sparked a seven-run inning. Nebraska City scored on a walk by junior Garrett Bassinger, a two-run single by Becker, a walk by sophomore Trenton Fahey, a double by senior Hayden Miller and a wild pitch.

Becker says with the bases loaded he just wanted to step up to the plate and get a base hit.

“Well at first, we were getting up on our front foot and swinging. We decided to sit back on our back foot and started driving it.”

The Pioneers finished with ten hits in the game. Senior Brennen Bales, Becker, sophomore Tyler Levy, and Miller each managed two hits.

Senior Johnny Mumford went 2-2 at the plate and drove in a run for Plattsmouth.

Nebraska City evens their record at 6-6 and will host Class A Bellevue East on Saturday.

The Blue Devils drop to 4-9 and will also play a Class A opponent on Saturday. Plattsmouth will welcome Omaha South to Blue Devil Park.
