AUBURN, Neb. – Lincoln Lutheran moved from #4 to #1 in the latest World-Herald News Service volleyball rankings released Tuesday morning, and celebrated with a sweep of Auburn Tuesday night, 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 (3-0).
“Even though it was a loss tonight, our girls stepped up against a very tough Lincoln Lutheran team,” Auburn Head Coach Lexie Baack said. “It is hard to find holes against a strong Lutheran defense, but we managed to do that pretty well. We were also successful in slowing down their strong offense.”
Sydnie Reeves led the Bulldogs with seven kills, followed by Theresa Frary with six. Reeves finished with 12 assists and 11 digs.
“These girls are working incredibly hard, and am so happy to see that we can ‘hang’ with some of the bigger teams this year, but now we just need to focus on finishing, having confidence in our abilities, and getting some wins against these strong teams,” according to Baack.
Auburn’s record evens to 2-2 and they will host Nebraska City on Thursday.
