Lourdes wins seventh-straight state contest, plays Johnson-Brock in semifinals

LINCOLN – Lourdes Central Catholic’s quest for a third straight state championship is off to a good start.

The 7th-seeded Knights upset two-seed Paxton Thursday morning, handing the Wildcats just their second loss of the season, 63-57.

LCC got it going early with some hot outside shooting. The Knights hit seven first-half three-pointers, five of which came from Thomas Ragland, Jr.

Paxton brought the deficit to within one in the third quarter, but could get no closer, bowing out in the Class D1 quarterfinals for the second time in the last four seasons.
