Nebraska City Finishes Legion Baseball Season with 27 Wins, Class B State Runner-Up

ALLIANCE, Neb. – The Omaha Roncalli American Legion Baseball team won their first Class B State Tournament Championship since 2008 with a 10-1 win over Nebraska City Wednesday afternoon at Bower-Shankland Field in Alliance.

Roncalli used singles from Logan McGill and Tyler Kloewer, and a double from Alex Rodgers to help build a 5-0 lead in the first two innings. They finished with 15 total hits.

Rodgers, Kloewer, Noah Rheinheimer, Thomas Alitz and Andrew Gurnon each collected multiple hits. Rodgers went 3-4, with an RBI and three runs scored.

Thomas Alitz was the winning pitcher after going six innings. He allowed one run on five hits and struck out three.

Sheridan Silvius led Nebraska City at the plate in his final game with the team. He finished 2-2 with an RBI.

The Post 8 Seniors finish the season as the Class B runner-up with a 27-6 record. It was Nebraska City’s first state title appearance since finishing runner-up vs. Gretna in 2009 and 2010.
