OKLAHOMA CITY — Nicky Lopez sparked two big innings with leadoff home runs, but the Oklahoma City Dodgers made a late charge to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 13-12 in Pacific Coast League action Tuesday night.
The Dodgers scored six runs in the ninth inning against Michael Ynoa and Josh Staumont, walking off on Edwin Rios’ two-run single.
Lopez led off the fifth and sixth innings with solo home runs, his first two homers of the season, and the Chasers scored five in the fifth and six in the sixth to erase an early four-run deficit.
Kelvin Gutierrez and Frank Schwindel followed Lopez’s first home run with back-to-back singles. Gutierrez scored on an RBI single by Cheslor Cuthbert.
Brett Phillips hit a two-run single to tie the game at 5-5, and Andrew Susac gave Omaha the lead with a groundout that scored Bubba Starling.
After Lopez’s leadoff blast in the sixth, the Chasers added five runs with two outs.
Cuthbert and Starling homered, Susac hit an RBI double and Gutierrez drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 12-5.
The Dodgers scored two in the seventh to pull within 12-7 before rallying in the ninth.
Lopez was one of six Chasers with multiple hits. The former Creighton standout finished the night 3 for 5 with a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Ynoa and Staumont each walked two and allowed three runs in the ninth. The Dodgers scored their last three runs with two outs.
The Dodgers and Chasers will meet again Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
