Nordhues, Meyer lead Syracuse to sub-district tournament title

NEBRASKA CITY – Senior Brooklyn Nordhues had 12 points, junior Lauren Meyer added 10, and the Syracuse basketball team claimed the Class C1-1 sub-district championship with a 49-45 win over Auburn on Thursday at Lourdes Central Catholic in Nebraska City.

The Rockets avenge a loss to the Bulldogs on Feb. 5 where Auburn was able to edge Syracuse, 46-41.

Bulldogs senior Ashley Teten led all scorers with 20 points.

Syracuse improves to 19-8 and waits for the district finals assignment. If the Rockets can win their district final game next Friday, it’ll be their first trip to the state tournament since 1986.

The Bulldogs end their season with a 15-6 record.
