PERU – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Thursday that 156 women’s golf student-athletes have been named 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Golf Scholar-Athletes. Morningside (Iowa) leads the way with seven individuals on the list.

Peru State senior Hannah Baldacci (Norfolk) and junior Emily Whipple (Lincoln) were among the 156 honored. This was Baldacci’s second time being honored.

Baldacci is an alcohol and drug counseling major with a psychology minor. She recently graduated from Peru State. Whipple is a middle level education major with a math content area specialization.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.

Baldacci and Whipple were pleased to learn of their recognition. Baldacci noted, “This is a nice way to top off my recent graduation, especially to have been named a scholar-athlete twice.” Whipple added, “Balancing school, other activities, and golf is definitely a challenge, but being acknowledged for such is an added bonus.”
