Perennial power Northwest Missouri State is again the pick to win the MIAA football title, but not by much.

The Bearcats finished one point in front in the coaches poll and seven ahead in the media poll as the conference held its media day Tuesday. Defending league champion Fort Hays State, which went 11-1 last season, is second in both polls.

UNK was picked to finish 10th out of 12 teams.

Media poll: Northwest Missouri State (14 first-place votes) 382 points, Fort Hays State (13) 375, Central Missouri (6) 349, Pittsburg State (1) 311, Emporia State 243, Central Oklahoma 229, Washburn 223, Missouri Western 171, Lindenwood 160, UNK 98, Northeastern State 66, Missouri Southern 45.

Coaches poll: Northwest Missouri State (4 first-place votes) 103 points, Fort Hays State (5) 102, Central Missouri (2) 96, Pittsburg State 81, Central Oklahoma 67, Emporia State 67, Washburn 63, Lindenwood 46, Missouri Western 40, UNK 30, Northeastern State 19, Missouri Southern 12.
