World-Herald News Service

With its PCL slate set to begin Thursday, Omaha announced its initial roster for its 50th season.

Among the Storm Chasers scheduled to take the field when they open the season against Colorado Springs at Werner Park are Hunter Dozier and Frank Schwindel, Omaha’s past two players of the year.

They’re expected to be joined in the lineup by fellow slugger Ryan O’Hearn, who hit 18 home runs for the Chasers last season. Other infielders on the initial roster include Ramon Torres, who spent part of 2017 with the organization’s parent club in Kansas City, and former Nebraska standout Cody Asche.

Speedsters Billy Burns and Terrance Gore return to the outfield. And Jonathan Dziedzic leads a starting rotation that will also include Andres Machado, Scott Barlow, Heath Fillmyer and Trevor Oaks.

Kevin McCarthy, Kevin Lenik and Eric Stout are back in a bullpen that features prospect Josh Staumont.

The Chasers are set to meet with local media on Wednesday before opening at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday.
