NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Chase d’Arnaud hit a tiebreaking double in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday to hand Omaha a 5-4 loss in a back-and-forth game at Nashville.
The Storm Chasers (10-14) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Jorge Bonifacio scored on a sacrifice fly from Elier Hernandez.
The Sounds (8-16) tied it in the bottom of the inning off a home run from Nolan Fontana, but the Chasers regained the lead with an RBI triple from Humberto Arteaga in the top of the third.
Nashville scored twice in the bottom of the third to pull ahead 3-2, then added to its lead with a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Omaha tied it again with two runs in the top of the seventh. Arteaga drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, then former Creighton standout Nicky Lopez hit an RBI single to make it 4-4.
The Sounds went ahead for good when d’Arnaud drove in Fontana with his second hit of the game.
Andrew Susac hit 3 for 4 with two runs scored for the Chasers, while Arteaga was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
The Storm Chasers and Sounds continue their series Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
