Paulo Orlando’s three-run homer capped a four-run seventh inning as Omaha rallied for a 7-2 win over Iowa at Werner Park on Sunday.
The Storm Chasers trailed 2-1 before scoring one in the sixth, four in the seventh and one in the eighth.
Elier Hernandez collected four of Omaha’s 12 hits while Frank Schwindel doubled, homered and drove in two. Schwindel leads the PCL in extra-base hits (58) to go with his 87 RBIs.
Glenn Sparkman, meanwhile, took a no-hitter into the sixth. He allowed two runs on three hits in the sixth — those were Iowa’s only hits.
Josh Staumont earned the win, retiring all eight batters he faced with five strikeouts. Former Husker and Millard South graduate Brian Duensing allowed three runs in the seventh to take the loss.
The teams complete the four-game series at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
