#7 Platteview totals 12 hits in victory over Auburn
AUBURN – Colin Lynam hit a solo homer in the first, Jordan Mathewson finished 3-3 and scored three runs, and the #7 Platteview baseball team defeated Auburn Thursday, 8-2, at Tushla Field in Auburn.
The Trojans collected 12 total hits. Caden Mathewson went 1-2 with a triple and four RBI’s. Grant Thomas also had a triple and a run scored.
Jakob Richards was credited with the win on the mound. He went five innings, gave up two runs on six hits and struck out six.
Zach Dickerson threw six innings, gave up eight runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts in the loss.
Brody Darnell finished 3-4 at the plate with an RBI to lead the Bulldogs.
Platteview improves to 9-3 and will be at Arlington on Monday. Auburn is now 6-5 and play a doubleheader at Omaha Northwest on Saturday.
Falls City outdone by #9 Concordia
OMAHA – The Falls City baseball team answered Concordia’s four-run second inning with a four-run third inning, but the #9 team in Class B took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the third and Concordia beat Falls City, 10-5, Thursday in Omaha.
The Tigers totaled nine hits in the game. Kade Bredemeier went 3-4 with two runs scored and Geoffrey Zimmerman finished 2-3 with a run scored.
Concordia, who improves 8-2, tallied 11 hits on the day. They will play at Mt. Michael Benedictine Friday.
Falls City drops to 6-8 and will host West Nodaway, MO on Saturday.
