AUBURN – Brody Darnell broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI single on the first pitch of his at bat in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the Auburn baseball team defeated Omaha South, 6-4, Tuesday at Tushla Field in Auburn.
Darnell finished 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. One of four batters who finished with more than one hit, including Tye Ommert, Hayden Hall and Kyson Warner. Ommert finished 3-4 with a pair of runs scored. The Bulldogs racked up 11 total hits.
Weston Reiman was the winning pitcher. He surrendered two runs on three hits over 3 1/3 innings and struck out four. Josh Lambert threw the final 3 2/3 innings.
Tyler Adam was charged with the loss. He gave up six runs on 11 hits and struck out two over six innings.
Jose Villagomes led Omaha South at the plate, finishing 3-4.
Auburn (6-5) is scheduled to play at Platteview on Thursday. Omaha South (0-11) will be at Wayne on Thursday.
No. 5 Elkhorn wins pitchers dual with Nebraska City
NEBRASKA CITY – Elkhorn starter Kyler Randazzo stuck out nine Nebraska City batters and the No. 1 Antlers defeated Nebraska City Tuesday, 3-1, at Clemmy Holmes Field.
Randazzo gave up one run on five hits in the complete game victory. 75% of his pitchers were thrown for strikes.
Jordan Williams was charged with the loss, despite striking out five batters. He gave up three runs on five hits, including two home runs, and walked five.
Trey Frahm and Drew Christo each hit homers for Elkhorn. Christo finished with two RBI’s.
Max Chaney drove-in the lone Pioneer run and went 1-3 at the dish.
Nebraska City (5-6) will be at Plattsmouth on Thursday, while Elkhorn (6-5) play at Millard South on Wednesday.
No. 1 Waverly proves too much for Plattsmouth in five-inning win
WAVERLY – The No. 1 Waverly baseball team scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and walked-off with an 11-0 victory over Plattsmouth Tuesday in Waverly.
Ben Carter, Jared Nielsen, Alex Davenport, Rhett Jordon, Treyton Kozal and Nolan Brown all knocked in runs in the eight-run fifth. Brown finished 3-3 at the plate.
The Blue Devils (4-7) will host Nebraska City on Thursday. The Vikings (12-3) host Hastings.
