VALLEY – Senior Dylan Knoell went 2-4 at the plate, including a home run, and the Nebraska City baseball team defeated Douglas County West Monday, 5-3, in Valley. Knoell finished with three RBI’s and a run scored.
Junior Trent Fahey was the winning pitcher. He went five innings, allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out five. Senior Jace Becker recorded the final six outs to secure the save. He gave up one run on one hit and struck out three.
DC West’s Brock Renter took the loss. He surrendered five runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero.
The Falcons tallied nine hits. Jackson Gernandt finished 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI’s.
The Pioneers are now 6-7 and will host Gretna (10-7) on Tuesday, before facing the Dragons in the first round of the Class B-3 District Tournament on Saturday at Hickman City Park.
DC West falls to 8-5 to end the regular season and will play Bennington (11-9) in the first round of the Class B-1 District Tournament on Saturday.

Early lead for Bennington seals fate for Plattsmouth
PLATTSMOUTH – Cole Schumacher threw six scoreless innings and gave up just one hit in Bennington’s, 10-0, win over Plattsmouth Monday at Plattsmouth High School. Schumacher struck out nine Blue Devils.
Grant Japp threw the final inning.
Jake Gillen and Jake Wageman each had a pair of hits and the Badgers finished with ten total.
Josh Aho lasted one and one-third innings, allowing five hits and seven runs in the loss.
Draven Ray had Plattsmouth’s lone hit.
Bennington is now 11-9 and will host Platte Valley (3-10) on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils (3-13) are at #7 Platteview (14-3) on Tuesday.
Maryville runs away with early lead in victory
MARYVILLE, MO – The Maryville baseball team scored on a single by Trey Houchin, a double by Creid Stocklein and a single by Quentin Ternus to take a 4-0 lead in the second inning and they never looked back in a 10-0 victory over Falls City Monday in Maryville.
Maryville would add four more runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Stocklein and a double by Houchin.
Kendrick Calfee took the win on the mound. He allowed six hits and one run over seven innings. He struck out two batters.
Kade Bredemeier took the loss for Falls City. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on ten hits and striking out two.
Jake Craig went 2-for-2 at the plate, with a run scored.
Maryville tallied 13 hits. Payton Schieffer finished 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Tigers drop to 8-11 and will play Branched Oak (3-9) in the first round of the Class B-5 District Tournament on Friday.
