Schmale to retire at Elmwood-Murdock

Leigh Schmale, who’s been at Elmwood-Murdock for the past 26 years of a 38-year coaching career in football, has announced he will retire at the end of the school year.

His teams were 215-118, including a 172-82 record at Elmwood-Murdock. Schmale was a head coach in the 2012 Nebraska Shrine Bowl.

His other coaching stints were at Clarkson, Fremont Bergan and Sidney, Iowa.
