Seniors’ leadership and hard work has drawn appreciation from Lourdes coach

NEBRASKA CITY – The Lourdes Central Catholic girls basketball team is full of young talent, but it has been two seniors who have stepped in to help develop the younger players.

Anna Heng and Olivia Welch are the only two seniors on the team and have helped out both on-and-off the court.

According to head coach Clay Carlton, Welch has put in the time and has showed the value of hard work to help the younger girls. On the other hand, Heng’s production has been improving during the latter-part of the season.

“Really stepped up and really played like a senior as of late. Doing a lot of great things offensively for us and defensively she gets lots of tips at the top of our zone. Been scoring a lot more lately. Just great post-ups and being aggressive.”

The Knights will play their final regular season game at Boys Town on Friday. Tip-off with the Cowgirls is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and will air live on KNCY 1600 AM, 105.5 FM and ncn21.com.
