BEATRICE – The annual Southeast Nebraska All-Star volleyball match and basketball games were held over the weekend at the Southeast Community College Truman Center in Beatrice.
The West defeated the East in a five-set thriller in the All-Star volleyball match on Friday night.
The West claimed the first set, 25-22, before the East won the second game, 25-20. After the West won the third set, 25-20, the East forced a deciding fifth set with a 25-14 victory in game four. The West won game five and the match, 15-6
Coree Lipovsky of Sandy Creek was named Most Valuable Player of the All-Star volleyball match.
In the girl’s All-Star basketball game Saturday evening, the West team hit 12-three pointers to run away with a 71-32 victory over the East squad.
Crete graduate, Camry Moore, poured in game-high 15-points and started the game with back-to-back three-pointers for the West All-Stars, and earned the MVP plaque for the game. Lauren Riley of York hit a trio of three-point shots and added 13-points for the West.
Sara Wertenberger of Falls City Sacred Heart led the East team with eight points.
In the boy’s All-Star basketball game, Michael Wardy pored in 26-points to lead the East past the West, 87-70. The Norris graduate dazzled the fans with a variety of Slam Dunks to earn Most Valuable Player honors. Tanner Wubbles of Waverly added 15-points for the East squad.
Lane Huebert of Heartland led the West squad with 18-points, while Kole Karcher of Fillmore Central scored 13-points and Max Madsen of Thayer Central chipped in ten-points.
