MEMPHIS — The Omaha Storm Chasers rallied to force extra innings, but came up short Thursday at AutoZone Park, falling 3-2 in 13 innings to the Memphis Redbirds.

Memphis hit three consecutive singles to open the 13th, capped by Brevic Valera’s ground ball through the right side to score Wilfredo Tovar.

Corey Toups’ seventh-inning double drove in Garin Cecchini to tie the game at two. Cecchini drove in Omaha’s first run in the second.

Memphis’ Stephen Piscotty knotted it up with a solo homer in the bottom of the second and an RBI single by Aledmys Diaz gave the Redbirds the lead in the fourth.

Seth Maness suffered the loss, giving up six hits in two innings of relief.

Omaha starter Eric Skoglund finished with a no-decision as he allowed two earned runs and four hits in seven solid innings. He also struck out nine.
