The Omaha Storm Chasers might have just won April Fools’ Day.
Early Monday, the baseball team posted a design for a new uniform and hat on social media. The team joked that on June 31 — a day that doesn’t exist — it will become the Omaha Potholes.
The white uniform with red trim features a jagged “Omaha” with letters that appear to be filled with grainy asphalt. Below the city name is a logo of an orange sedan plummeting into a giant pothole.
The joke was received well by fans, many of whom actually wanted the team to go through with the deal.
A few folks fell for the joke. In their defense, a wacky name change wouldn’t be out of character for the Storm Chasers, who have changed their name to the Omaha Runzas and the Omaha Sizzle for short stints in the past.
