Franchise Drops Requirement For Nebraska City Cable Office

NEBRASKA CITY – Two months after the city extended its franchise agreement with Time Warner Cable and Spectrum, the Nebraska City office at 521 Central Ave. has been closed.

The new agreement dropped the 30-year requirement that the company maintain a local office here.

A sign on the building says the office is temporarily closed due to a “facility issue.”

City Building Inspector Al Viox said he is not aware of facility issues. He said the last time he inspected the building it appeared to be structurally sound.

The building, owned by Stephen Gillott of Murray, was the former home of Delores Flake. County records in 2016 say the residence can not be used.

A sign also invites people to visit stores in Lincoln and Falls City or call an automated customer service number.
