Museums Feature Submarines, River Boats and Critter Encounters

NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City Museums are planning AppleJack Events.

The Civil War Museum will host a replica of the Civil War submarine the CSS Hunley.

The crew of the modern nuclear submarine USS Nebraska is scheduled for a meet and greet on Friday from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

The Lewis and Clark Center will host living history re-enactors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Shirley Enos will demonstrate hides and pelts, Mary Langhorst will present on earth lodges and Ty Thornnock will discuss wood tool carving.

Butch Bovier will present on river navigation both days.

At the Kregel Windmill Factory Museum, Darrel Draper will perform his show, “Daniel Freeman: America’s First Homesteader at 7 p.m., Sept. 22.

The Wildwood Historic Center will provide clay from 1 to 4 p.m. for children to make a pinch pots.

Mayhew Cabin will host host critter close-ups with special shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
