Nebraska City Plans Steinhart Park Beer Garden For The Fourth

NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City City Council approved plans for a community 4th of July festival during its meeting Monday night.

New events this year will include a one-mile fun run, Yoga in the Park, and a beer garden on the north side of Steinhart Park. All these events are set to take place on Saturday, June 30.

Amy Allgood, executive director of NCTC, outlined the plans for the beer garden.

Allgood: “Our plan for that is to have a band in there, and food, and we’re working with the high school to have a cornhole tournament to bring people out. We’re bringing yard games to have outside of the beer garden area so that families can stay all afternoon and then hopefully walk over and enjoy the fireworks.”

Other festival events will include an ice cream social from 6 to 8 p.m., a performance by the Southeast Community band, and the return of the River City Carnival.

Carnival hours will be from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, 1 p.m. to midnight Saturday and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, said Allgood. The carnival will also be closed during the fireworks on Saturday night, said Allgood, but will reopen once the fireworks show has finished.
