Police Report Sudden Rise In Counterfeit Bills

NEBRASKA CITY – Police are reporting a surge in counterfeit bills in Nebraska City over the past few days.

There are an estimated $70 million in counterfeit bills in circulation in the United States. There is about one counterfeit note for every 10,000 of genuine currency.

Nebraska City’s latest sales tax collection figures indicate $1.6 million taxable sales in February, which includes about $592,000 in currency.
