Roof Expense Soars Over Nebraska City Budget

NEBRASKA CITY—City commissioners awarded a bid to McCoy Construction for the replacement of the roof at Nebraska City’s city hall and fire station.

The $243,725 contract was about $60,000 over what the city had budgeted this year, said Nebraska City Construction and Facility Manager Marty Stovall.

Stovall: “As we hired JEO to look into the project, it was kind of a $60,000 upgrade to our drainage system. We had to bring it up to code, so that was kind of the bust in what we were planning for.”

Nebraska City City Administrator Grayson Path said the city could pursue a variety of options, including taking out a loan, to cover the additional cost of the project.

The city also accepted a bid of $104,765 for the Steinhart Park Road Bridge overlay project to JMN Construction Inc.
