NEBRASKA CITY – The Nebraska City School Board has scheduled a 5 p.m. workshop meeting today to consider the school’s safety plan and procedures.
The meeting precedes the regular school board meeting, which is scheduled at 6 p.m. at the high school library.
The school issued a letter on Feb. 22 signed by Superintendent Jeff Edwards and Police Chief David Lacy regarding its safety plan.
The letter says police and emergency services regularly tour and train in school facilities and staff have attended training by School Security Services.
Students also conduct drills for a wide range of emergencies, including an active shooter.
Parents are also urged to encourage students to report suspicious behavior. “If you see something – say something!” the letter says.
