Ronald Keith Wenninghoff of Unadilla passed away March 20, 2019. He was born on May 23, 1932. Ron was the youngest of four children born to Arthur J. and Edith M. (Swerdfeger) Wenninghoff.
Ron graduated from Syracuse High School and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from Peru State College. He served two years in the US Army during the Korean War. Ron married Mary Ann Nutzman Saturday, May 23, 1953, at First Lutheran Church, Avoca, NE.
Ron served school districts in Nemaha, Pawnee City and Unadilla, Nebraska, in addition to being an administrator at Iowa Lakes Community College. He served three terms as the Otoe County Superintendent of Schools. Ron was involved in public education for forty years.
Ron was an active member of Luther Memorial Church. He was a member of Massey-Richards Post 100 of the American Legion serving as the Post’s Chaplin, Adjutant, and Commander. Ron served as Swine Superintendent for the Otoe County Fair for twenty years and was president of the SE Nebraska chapter of Lutheran Brotherhood. He also was the first President of the Cass/Otoe County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and later served as Financial Director of the organization.
Ron and his beloved bride Mary Ann were crowned Germanfest King and Queen in 2004.
Ron is survived by his wife Mary Ann and children Joel (Cindy) Wenninghoff, Kurt Wenninghoff, and Julie (Steve) Eckman; grandchildren Garin (Amy) Wenninghoff, Jaena Wenninghoff, and Kyle Wenninghoff; great grandchildren Sydney and Grace Wenninghoff; sisters-in-law Violet Whitaker, Betty Jean (Marion) Kreifels, and Carolyn (Ed) Ramold; numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arthur and sisters Margery and Helen.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 26th, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Syracuse. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
Visitation: Monday, March 25th from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with family greeting friends from 5-7 P.M. at the funeral home in Syracuse.
