TERRY WELDON, age 70 of Tabor, IA died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his home following an extended illness. Terry was born March 21, 1948 in Omaha, NE to James Alton Weldon and Weigelia Arlene (Hallam) Weldon. Terry was a 1966 graduate of Fremont-Mills High
School and attended Northwest Missouri State receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1970. He was married to Patricia Anne Kempton on March 26, 1971 in Omaha, NE. Terry attended the Tabor Congregational United Church of Christ and was a member the Tabor Masonic Lodge. He was a terminal manager for J.B Montgomery, a trucking company for 20 years. He taught High School Science for 22 years at the Farragut High School in Farragut, IA. Over the years he coached a variety sports at Farragut and Fremont-Mills in Tabor. At Farragut, he coached high school girls and boys basketball, junior high girls basketball and junior high track. At FM, he coached high school football, basketball and baseball.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; cousin, Marylou Durkee; and Aunt and Uncle, Virginia and Harold Irwin. He is survived by his wife, Pat Weldon of Tabor, IA; 2 daughters, Angela Davis and Tricia Goodman and husband Quentin all of Tabor; son, Brett Weldon and wife Maribel of Tabor; 6 grandchildren, Tanner Bailey, Lane Goodman, Courtney Goodman, Isabel Weldon, Brooklyn Weldon and Jacoby Weldon; sister-in-law Carolyn Starr and husband Harry of Tabor; nephews Steve Spriester and wife Nicole and family of San Antonio, TX and Russell Spriester and wife Jamie and family of Hanford, CA; many other relatives and friends.
Terry was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes and, of course, his hometown Knights. He loved playing cards with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed playing Pitch, Pinochle, Hearts and Canasta. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, but his family was his top priority always.
Celebration of Life services will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the New Tabor Fire and Rescue Station, 900 Main Street in Tabor. There will be no viewing and memorials will go to the Fremont-Mills High School Girls and Boys Basketball programs. Private disposition of ashes will be at a later time.
