PERU, NE – During the first leg of the recent Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN), Peru Chamber of Commerce and representatives and the Bobcat cheerleaders provided a stop at the Peru corner at the junction of Highway 67 and Hwy 64G Spur.
Many of the nearly 300 riders took advantage of the break on the first day (June 4) which started in Falls City and went through Nemaha, Brownville, Peru, and ended in Auburn. The Peru Chamber of Commerce provided the tent, drinks, ice, and snacks for the riders. Several Bobcat cheerleaders assisted with the distribution of items and cheered for the riders as they stopped at the tent.
Chamber member Peggy Groff was at the event and said it was a scorcher that day. Groff added, “The cheerleaders were real troopers as they encouraged the riders and helped keep them ready to go for the rest of their ride.” Groff noted, too, that they encouraged riders to ride into Peru and check out what the town had to offer.
On June 11, Bob the Bobcat participated in the birthday party for Stormy, the mascot of the Omaha Stormchasers. Several other area mascots were in attendance with Bob getting lots of love from the kids in the crowd.
In addition, the Bobcat cheerleaders have already participated in their first parade, which was June 10 for the Springfield Days parade. They will be participating in eight more parades, All College Reunion and Charter Days this summer. In addition, they will be providing a three-day cheer camp to the Johnson-Brock Cheerleading team June 26-28.
