Bobcat Golfers Finish Fourth in Heart Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Peru State women’s golf team finished fourth in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Golf Championship on Tuesday in Lawrence, Kansas.

The tournament, which was hosted by Baker University, was won by William Penn (Iowa) which had a two-day total of 610. The Statesmen easily won the tournament as they best the second-place Grand View (Iowa) team by 53 strokes.

The other team finishes were as follows: third – Baker – 697, fourth – Peru State – 713, fifth – Missouri Valley – 724, sixth – Mount Mercy (Iowa) – 734, seventh – Culver-Stockton (Mo.) – 738, eighth – Graceland (Iowa) – 782, and ninth – Clarke (Iowa) – 784.

Leading the Bobcats for a second-straight day was senior Charleen Marsh (Bellevue). Marsh finished eighth with a two-day total of 168 having shot rounds of 82 and 86. This was Marsh’s best outing in her four-year career at Peru State.

Senior Hannah Baldacci (Norfolk) finished 20th overall having shot consecutive rounds of 90 for a two-day total of 180.

Freshmen Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) and Vivian Brown (Wichita, Kan.) tied for 22nd. Finke had rounds of 96 and 88 while Brown shot rounds of 90 and 94 while each had two-day totals of 184.

Junior Emily Whipple (Lincoln) was Peru State’s fifth golfer. Whipple finished 29th with rounds of 93 and 96 for a two-day total of 189.

With their tournament win, William Penn advances to the NAIA Golf Championship later this month.

Hannah Baldacci Makes Heart All-Conference Team

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Bobcat senior women’s golfer Hannah Baldacci (Norfolk) was named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) All-Conference Team. The Heart team was recognized at the conclusion of the women’s golf championship held in Lawrence, Kan., on Monday and Tuesday.

Prior to the conference tournament, Baldacci had a scoring average of slightly over an 89. Baldacci was playing some of her best golf of the year.

At the Kaitlyn Ericson/Doane Invitational, Baldacci shot an 85 and tied for tenth.

Then, Baldacci had her best round of the year as she shot an 84 and followed with an 86 to finish 26thin the Concordia Bulldog Invite.

Baldacci and her teammates finished fourth out of nine teams in the recent Heart Tournament.
