OZARK, Mo. – The Grand View (Iowa) Vikings proved to be one of the Peru State baseball team’s toughest nemesis this season again late Sunday night/early Monday morning.
The Vikings defeated the Bobcats five of six times this season which included twice in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Baseball Championship. Grand View gave the ‘Cats their first loss of the tournament and the last loss of the tourney as they topped Peru State 5-3 Sunday night.
Grand View moves on in the tourney being played at the US Baseball Park in Ozark, Mo., with a 28-21 record. The Vikings will face Clarke (Iowa) at 1:15 p.m. today.
Peru State finishes its season with a 30-20 record. The Bobcats finished with their fifth 30-win season out of the last eight seasons. All five of those 30-win seasons have come under the tutelage of head coach Wayne Albury.
Peru State also finished with an 18-13 Heart conference mark which was sixth overall among the 14 teams, just one game out of the third spot in a tightly-contested conference race.
