COLUMBIA, Mo. – After averaging 21 points in each of the two contests Peru State played in the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Columbia College, Bobcat senior guard Quantice Hunter (Chicago) was named to the All-Classic Team.
Hunter, a 6-2 senior, scored 29 points in the Peru State loss to Missouri Baptist and then added 13 points when the ‘Cats dropped an 88-77 contest to the seventh-ranked and hosts Columbia Cougars. He dished out 1.5 assists, grabbed 1.5 rebounds, and had 2.5 steals. He shot 46.4% from the field which included making four of 12 three-point attempts for 33.3%. At the free throw line, Hunter went 12 of 13 for 92.3%.
Others recognized were Fitzgerald Hopkins and Johnny Benson of Missouri Baptist, Mike Johnson of Culver-Stockton (Mo.), and Jackson Dubinski and Preston Whitfield of Columbia. Whitfield was named the All-Classic MVP.
The 3-4 Bobcats will start their Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) play this Wednesday when they travel to Marshall, Mo., to face the 6-2 Missouri Valley Vikings.
